Charter

Misool Luxury LiveaboardPrivate Cabins by the Night

A Misool luxury liveaboard sells you a private en-suite cabin on a scheduled 7- to 12-night voyage from Sorong, priced per person per night, instead of the whole yacht. Coralia departures start from USD 780 per person per night; whole-yacht buyouts start from USD 6,400 per yacht per night. Misool runs October to April. The desk confirms every final figure.

Cabin booking vs whole-yacht charter: what changes

There are two ways to sleep on a luxury yacht in Misool. You can book one cabin on a published departure and share the boat with other guests, or you can take the whole yacht and set the dates yourself. The first is a liveaboard booking. The second is a private Misool yacht charter.

A cabin booking is priced per person per night. The itinerary, the departure date and the dive schedule are fixed by the operator. You get the same chef, the same dive deck and the same reefs as a charter guest, without needing to fill sixteen berths. Solo divers and couples usually come out ahead this way.

A whole-yacht charter is priced per yacht, per night, from USD 6,400 to USD 35,000 depending on the vessel, with a 7-night minimum from Sorong. Seven nights on a ten-guest phinisi at the entry rate is USD 44,800 for the whole yacht, which works out to about USD 640 per person per night. The boat goes where you want, when you want.

The break-even is simple arithmetic. At USD 780 per person per night for a Coralia cabin, a group of eight pays USD 6,240 a night in total. Once your party reaches nine or more, an entry-level private yacht at USD 6,400 per yacht per night costs less per head and gives you the vessel to yourselves. Below nine, book cabins. The full comparison, with examples for each group size, is in our guide to choosing between a cabin and a private charter in Misool.

Dive-focused boats on this list run three to four dives a day in Misool. Nitrox, a camera room and airport transfers are standard on some vessels and chargeable on others, so we list them per boat when we send you the departure sheet rather than promising them here.

Cabin types: master suites, balcony cabins, twin and double

Luxury liveaboards in Misool are not cruise ships with a dive deck bolted on. Cabin counts are low, which is the whole point. On Coralia, eight cabins share a 48 m hull. On Damai 2, seven cabins share 43 m. That ratio is what buys you a quiet deck at sunset and a dive platform that is rarely crowded.

Cabin categories follow a familiar ladder. A master suite typically sits on the upper deck with the widest windows. Balcony or upper-deck cabins come next. Standard cabins on the lower deck are usually configurable as a double or two singles. Cabins on the vessels we book are generally en suite and air-conditioned; the departure sheet confirms it per boat.

The price gap between a lower-deck double and the master suite is real, and the desk will show it to you on the departure sheet. Our advice is unchanged across boats: if you are two divers who spend the day in the water, the lower deck is excellent value. If one of you is a non-diver, pay for the suite with the view.

What a per-person rate includes, and what it excludes

A per-person liveaboard rate in Misool typically includes your shared en-suite cabin, three meals a day, snacks, coffee, tea and soft drinks, guided diving or snorkeling, tanks, weights, dive guides, tender rides and shore excursions. On dive-focused boats that means three to four dives a day. Some higher-priced vessels fold in harbor transfers, marine park fees, equipment, nitrox and Wi-Fi, but this varies by boat.

What is usually excluded is also consistent across operators: flights to Sorong, visas, travel and dive insurance, alcoholic drinks and crew gratuities. Depending on the vessel, park permits, rental equipment, nitrox and specialty dives may also sit outside the rate. The Raja Ampat conservation fee is a government charge per person, usually paid separately.

In 2026 a shared-cabin luxury liveaboard in Raja Ampat generally runs USD 350–900 per person per night, with premium vessels reaching USD 1,000–1,900. For a seven-night trip, plan on roughly USD 3,500–8,400 per person before flights and extras. Peak-season Misool departures and master suites can exceed that. The full breakdown of Misool luxury costs shows where each line item lands.

Sample 7-night Misool and 10-night Misool + Dampier departures

Misool lies 90–110 nautical miles south of Sorong, which is 10–14 hours underway for a liveaboard. Every itinerary therefore starts with an overnight passage. Boarding is in the afternoon in Sorong, the yacht sails after dinner, and you wake up at anchor among the karst.

7 nights: Misool only

  • Day 1: board in Sorong, safety briefing, overnight crossing south.
  • Days 2–3: Fiabacet and the Yilliet area. Fiabacet’s pinnacle chain runs 8–35 m, with sea fans, schooling snapper and pygmy seahorses.
  • Day 4: Boo Windows (5–30 m), the twin limestone arches, timed for slack water. Afternoon at Nudi Rock (5–20 m) for macro.
  • Day 5: Magic Mountain (7–40 m), the manta cleaning station, best between December and March.
  • Day 6: Four Kings (5–40 m) in the morning, Wayilbatan (5–35 m) in the afternoon, then a tender into the lagoons.
  • Day 7: Daram’s shallow coral gardens (3–18 m) for a last snorkel, overnight return to Sorong.
  • Day 8: disembark in Sorong after breakfast.

10 nights: Misool + Dampier Strait

The ten-night version keeps the Misool block intact and adds the Dampier Strait in the north on the way back toward Sorong. You trade one or two Misool days for the strait’s current-swept reefs and the chance to dive both halves of Raja Ampat on one booking. Wayag is not a sensible add-on at this length: the Misool to Wayag crossing alone is 200–240 nautical miles, or 20–30 hours underway. That route belongs to a 12-night Misool and Raja Ampat liveaboard.

Who it suits: solo divers, couples, photographers, non-divers

Solo divers are the natural liveaboard guest. You pay for one berth, you are paired with a buddy on board, and you are never asked to fill a yacht. Couples who dive together get the same economics with a cabin to themselves.

Photographers choose boats, not itineraries. A camera room with charging stations, rinse tanks and a dry bench matters more than the brochure, and the boats on our roster that have one are flagged on the departure sheet. Visibility of 20–30 m, often 25–35 m in the October to April season, is the backdrop.

Non-divers can join and are not an afterthought. Misool’s lagoons, Daram’s shallow gardens and the calmer sites like Nudi Rock are built for snorkeling, and the tender runs to shore for viewpoints and caves while the divers are down. Water sits at 27–30°C for the whole season. If more than half your group does not dive, though, read the Misool luxury diving page and then consider a charter, where the schedule bends to you.

Private cabin buy-out and upgrade to full charter

There is a middle path between one cabin and the whole yacht. On some departures the desk can hold a block of cabins for a group, which gives you most of the boat’s social space without the full charter commitment. Availability depends on the vessel’s own booking position, so ask early.

If your group grows past the break-even, we move the booking to a private charter. Boats of 35 to 50 m, such as Coralia and Damai 2, sit on our Misool phinisi charter page. Coralia II, at 51.8 m, and larger vessels are on the Misool superyacht charter page. Vessels under 35 m belong to boutique phinisi charter. The same desk handles all three, so an upgrade is a conversation, not a new enquiry.

Booking lead time for Misool departures

Misool departures run from October to April, with the most reliable sea conditions from November to March and January to February the strongest months for calm crossings, visibility and mantas. Those two months are also the first to fill, and January and February cabins on the most requested boats often go early.

The south-east monsoon runs May to September, with June to September the roughest. Several operators treat the crossings south of Misool as closed in that window, and we do not sell Misool liveaboard cabins against it. October and April are shoulder months: conditions are usually improving in October and can deteriorate by late April. The best time to visit Misool guide has the month-by-month detail, and the Misool manta season post explains why December to March matters. If those months push the trip elsewhere, Misool compared with Komodo explains which region fits which season.

To hold a cabin, the desk needs your preferred departure window, the number of divers and non-divers, and your cabin category. We reply with a departure sheet listing the exact boat, dates, cabin, inclusions and the final per-person figure. A deposit secures the cabin. Our Misool packing guide covers what to bring once the dates are set, and the Misool dive sites post goes deeper on each reef named above.

Misool luxury liveaboard: frequently asked questions

How much does a Misool luxury liveaboard cost per person per night?

Shared-cabin rates on luxury vessels in Raja Ampat generally run USD 350–900 per person per night in 2026, with premium boats reaching USD 1,000–1,900. Coralia starts from USD 780 and Coralia II from USD 785 per person per night. The final figure depends on cabin category, departure date and inclusions, and the desk confirms it in writing before you commit.

Is it less expensive to book a cabin or charter the whole yacht in Misool?

For one to eight guests, cabins cost less. At USD 780 per person per night, eight guests pay USD 6,240 a night. From nine guests upward, a private yacht at the USD 6,400 per yacht per night entry rate costs less per head and gives you the whole boat. Private charters carry a 7-night minimum from Sorong.

What is the best luxury liveaboard for Misool?

It depends on what you dive for. Coralia and Coralia II suit divers who want a classic phinisi with eight cabins and a serious dive deck. Damai 2 suits small groups and photographers, with seven cabins for twelve guests. White Manta suits larger dive groups, with 24 berths. Dewi Nusantara is built around photography, with a camera room.

What is included in a Misool luxury liveaboard price?

Typically your en-suite cabin, three meals a day, snacks and soft drinks, three to four guided dives a day, tanks, weights, dive guides, tender rides and shore excursions. Flights to Sorong, visas, insurance, alcohol, gratuities and the Raja Ampat conservation fee are usually extra. Nitrox, rental gear and transfers vary by boat and are listed on the departure sheet.

Can non-divers join a Misool luxury liveaboard?

Yes. Misool’s lagoons and shallow sites such as Daram (3–18 m) and Nudi Rock (5–20 m) are suited to snorkeling, and the tender runs ashore to viewpoints and caves while divers are down. Water is 27–30°C all season. If most of your group does not dive, a private charter with a schedule built around you is the better fit.

How far in advance should I book a Misool liveaboard?

As early as your dates allow. The season runs October to April, and January and February cabins on the most requested boats often go early. Shoulder months in October and April, and mid-season weeks outside the holidays, usually have more flexibility. Send your window and group size and the desk will tell you what is actually open.
