Misool by private yacht: three ways to go
Misool sits in the far south of Raja Ampat, roughly 90–110 nautical miles from Sorong. The way in is by sea, and the comfortable way in is by a yacht that leaves Sorong in the evening and arrives among the karst islands at first light. Everything we arrange starts from that fact.
The desk works in three formats. Which one fits depends on how many people are traveling, how much of the vessel you want to yourself, and whether diving is the point of the trip or just one part of it.
- Private yacht charter. The whole vessel, crew and itinerary are yours. Priced per yacht, per night, with a 7-night minimum from Sorong. Start at Misool luxury yacht charter.
- Luxury liveaboard cabin. A shared en-suite cabin on a scheduled Misool or Raja Ampat departure, priced per person, per night. The desk confirms the final figure per boat and date. See Misool luxury liveaboard cabins.
- Non-diver yacht tour. Lagoons, viewpoints, caves and snorkeling from a tender, with no dive certification required. See Misool luxury tours for non-divers.
If you already know your dates and group size, send them on WhatsApp and the desk will come back with two or three vessels that are actually free, not a brochure.
Featured fleet by tier
We draw on a Raja Ampat catalogue of more than sixty vessels and group it into three tiers by length: superyachts of 50 m and above, luxury phinisi between 35 and 50 m, and boutique phinisi under 35 m. The six vessels below are representative of each tier. Each card links to the tier page, where the full list and the booking notes live.

Rascal
30 m traditional phinisi yacht · 5 cabins · 10 guests
From USD 12,000 per yacht, per night (+ 11% VAT), 7-night minimum.
Other vessels work Misool in season too, among them Silolona on the catalogue and, through the wider charter market, Amandira, Dewi Nusantara and Sequoia. Availability in peak weeks moves quickly, so the desk checks the calendar before quoting rather than listing a figure that may already be gone. Rates above are the published 2026 starting points and the final quote is built once the vessel, dates and guest count are fixed.
A note on how to read the tiers. Length changes the feel of the trip more than the price per guest does. A 65 m ketch has separate deck zones, so a family of fourteen can split up for the afternoon. A 30 m phinisi with ten guests is one shared table and one shared sundeck, which is exactly what a honeymoon couple or a close group of friends tends to want.
What a private charter costs, in one block
Private Raja Ampat charters are priced per yacht, per night, from USD 6,400 to USD 35,000 depending on the vessel, with a 7-night minimum from Sorong. The whole vessel is included in that figure, not a cabin. Where you land in the range depends on the yacht, her capacity and the season.
To make it concrete: seven nights on a ten-guest phinisi at the entry rate is USD 44,800 for the whole yacht. Divided ten ways, that is about USD 640 per guest, per night, with crew, chef, all meals and dive equipment already in. It is comparable to a high-end private stay on land, except this one moves between lagoons each morning.
- Included: the full vessel, captain and crew, private chef and all meals, snorkeling and basic dive equipment, tenders and shore excursions, and airport transfers in Sorong.
- Not included: the Raja Ampat conservation entry fee, which is a government charge paid per person, flights to Sorong, premium beverages, crew gratuities, and nitrox or courses if requested. Fee details are in our Misool and Raja Ampat permit fee guide.

Signature routes from Sorong
Every itinerary begins and ends in Sorong. The crossing to central Misool is about 90–110 nautical miles, roughly 10–14 hours underway at liveaboard speed, so it is run overnight while guests sleep. Adding Wayag in the far north means a second long passage of about 200–240 nautical miles, which is why the Wayag combination needs twelve nights rather than ten.
| Route | Nights | Shape of the trip | Suits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Misool only | 7 | Overnight crossing from Sorong, then five full days inside the Misool karst: Balbulol, Wayil, Yapap, Fiabacet and the Boo Windows area, return overnight. | Couples, first-time visitors, non-divers, anyone with exactly one week |
| Misool + Dampier | 10 | Misool first, then north to the current-fed reefs of the Dampier Strait before the return to Sorong. | Divers, photographers, families who want variety |
| Misool + Wayag | 12 | Misool, then the long passage north to the Wayag lagoons, with Dampier on the way back. | Expedition-minded groups, UHNW charters, repeat visitors |
Actual timings depend on tides, current, weather and how long you want at each anchorage; the crew builds in margin rather than racing between stops. A fuller comparison of trip lengths is in how many nights you need in Misool.
Destinations inside Misool
Misool rewards slow travel. The main stops sit close together by yacht and tender, so a day can hold a lagoon swim, a viewpoint hike, a cave and two dives without feeling rushed. These are the places that come up most in planning calls.
- Balbulol. A karst-island and reef area in southern Misool, visited for its limestone formations, lagoons and diving. Read more in Balbulol lagoon.
- Love Lagoon (Wayil). A sheltered turquoise lagoon among Wayil’s limestone islands, known for its viewpoint. Yachts anchor outside and guests go in by tender. See Love Lagoon.
- Yapap. A cluster of limestone rocks and islets for scenery, snorkeling and photography, approached by tender to avoid the coral.
- Tomolol Cave. Prehistoric red rock art, including hand stencils, viewed with a local guide from the tender. See Tomolol Cave.
- Lenmakana. A saltwater lake of largely stingless jellyfish, reached by a short hike and snorkeled at the surface only, with no fins or sunscreen. See Misool’s jellyfish lake.
- Harfat Jaya. A hilltop viewpoint over the karst and lagoons, reached by a steep hike with a guide. See Harfat Jaya viewpoint.
- Magic Mountain. An exposed seamount at 7–40 m and a major manta cleaning station, with sharks and trevally. Current is often strong, so it is an advanced dive.
- Boo Windows. Twin limestone arches at 5–30 m with soft corals and schooling fish, best dived near slack tide.
The full list of lagoons, islets and landings, with how each is reached, is on Misool lagoons. For the wider archipelago and how Misool relates to Dampier and Wayag, start with Misool in Raja Ampat.
Season: October to April
The yacht season runs October through April. The most reliable conditions are generally November–March, and January–February is often the best all-around window for calm crossings, visibility and mantas. Water is around 27–30°C and visibility is typically 20–30 m in season, with clearer days reaching further.
Mantas are present year-round, but the strongest cleaning-station period is December–March. The south-east monsoon runs May–September, with the roughest seas usually June–September, and the exposed crossing south of Misool can become difficult. We do not sell Misool in those months. October and April are shoulder months: October usually improves as it goes, and late April can turn.
Month-by-month detail is in the best time to visit Misool and the manta calendar is in Misool manta season.
Who it suits
The same vessel serves very different trips depending on who is aboard, so the desk plans around the group before the boat.
- Honeymoons. A boutique phinisi, a private lagoon each morning and no other guests. See Misool luxury honeymoon.
- Families and multigenerational groups. Larger vessels with separate deck zones, shallow snorkeling at Daram, and a crew used to children. See Misool family yacht charter.
- Divers. Three to four dives a day on Magic Mountain, Boo Windows, Fiabacet and Four Kings, with a dedicated dive deck. See Misool luxury diving.
- Photographers. Wide-angle reefs, mantas and the macro at Nudi Rock, with camera space on the larger boats. See Misool underwater photography.
- Wellness. Quiet anchorages, deck yoga at dawn and a chef who works from a brief, on vessels that carry spa staff.
- UHNW groups. Superyachts of 50 m and above, a 12-night Wayag combination, and a single point of contact from first message to disembarkation. See Misool luxury expedition.
How booking with Misool Luxury works
- Tell us the shape of the trip. Dates, group size, divers or not, and the budget band. WhatsApp is fastest.
- Receive a short list. Two or three vessels that are confirmed free on your dates, with the per-yacht nightly rate, a seven-night total and the per-guest figure.
- Hold and confirm. A deposit secures the vessel; the balance follows on the operator’s schedule. The desk advises on the Raja Ampat conservation card and landing rules.
- Arrive in Sorong. Many guests stay at a hotel in Sorong the night before departure; the crew meets you and the yacht sails that evening.
Misool Luxury is a specialist marine brand under Juara Holding Group and the sister brand of Komodo Luxury, which runs its own vessels in Komodo. In Raja Ampat we do not own the boats; we know them, we know which crews handle Misool well in a given month, and we quote from the operator’s live calendar. The desk is reachable at [email protected] and on WhatsApp +62 811-3941-4563. More on how we work is on About Misool Luxury and in the Misool booking process.
How much does a private luxury yacht charter in Misool and Raja Ampat cost?
Private charters run from USD 6,400 to USD 35,000 per yacht, per night, depending on the vessel, with a 7-night minimum from Sorong. Seven nights on a ten-guest phinisi at the entry rate is USD 44,800 for the whole yacht, or about USD 640 per guest, per night. Crew, chef, all meals and dive equipment are included; conservation fees and flights to Sorong are not.
Is it better to book a cabin or charter the whole yacht in Misool?
For two to four people, a shared cabin on a luxury liveaboard is usually the lower total, at roughly USD 350–900 per person, per night, on most boats. From eight guests upward, a whole-yacht charter is often the better value per person and gives you the itinerary, the dates and the vessel to yourselves. The desk runs both numbers for you.
What is included in a Misool yacht charter price?
The whole vessel, captain and crew, a private chef with all meals, snorkeling and basic dive equipment, tenders, shore excursions and Sorong airport transfers. Outside the rate: the Raja Ampat conservation entry fee paid per person, flights to Sorong, premium beverages, crew gratuities, and nitrox or courses when requested. Each quote lists these line by line.
Which Raja Ampat yachts suit UHNW private charters?
The 50 m-plus tier: Lamima at 65 m with 7 cabins for 14 guests, Prana by Atzaro at 55 m with 9 cabins for 18 guests, and Dunia Baru at 51 m with 7 cabins for 14 guests. These vessels have separate deck zones, large tenders and crews used to extended Misool and Wayag itineraries. Availability from December to February is tight, so early contact matters.
Can a private yacht charter accommodate a multigenerational family?
Yes. Vessels with 7 to 9 cabins carry 14 to 18 guests, enough for grandparents, parents and children with a cabin to spare. Days are built around tender trips, shallow snorkeling at sites like Daram, and lagoon swims, with diving for those who want it. The crew adjusts meal times and activity pace to the youngest and oldest aboard.
When is the best time for a luxury trip to Misool?
October through April, with November–March the most reliable and January–February often the best all-around window for calm seas, 20–30 m visibility and mantas at the cleaning stations. May through September is the south-east monsoon, when the crossing south of Misool becomes rough, so the desk does not place Misool charters in those months.
Send your dates and group size, and the desk will reply with vessels that are actually available for Misool this season.
